Domain Names
When you setup an account your website address is set as a sub address of the quantumjelly.com domain (eg. www.mysite.quantumjelly.com). By registering a domain name you can change the address of your website (eg. www.mysite.com). This gives your site a more personal feel and makes it easier for businesses and friends to remember your website address.
Registering a domain name also allows you to utilise the quantumjelly email system (including webmail). This means you can use email addresses that feature your registered domain name (eg. info@mysite.com).
To register a domain name or to assign a domain you have already registered to your site, click on the Domain Management icon located on the control panel home page.
Note: to assign a domain name to your website, you must activate your account first. Domain names cannot be assigned to trial websites.
Transferring a Domain Name
If you already have a registered domain name select the first option from the list that appears. If you want to register a new domain name select the Register a new name option.
If you already have a registered domain name you will need to provide some detail so we can assign the name to your website. Please enter the name of the domain you have registered previously (eg. www.mydomain.com) and the registrar you registered it through (eg Melbourne IT Ltd). We'll also need to know the username and password for the management of the domain so we can reassign it to point at your site.
Once we have all the details we need, we'll get in contact with you via the email address you provided when you signed up. We'll coordinate the changeover and ensure that any email accounts that might be associated with the domain name are not disrupted.
Registering a New Domain Name
If you want to register a new domain name, choose the Register new name option and search to see if the domain name you want is available.
The availability of the name you have chosen will be returned. Choose the name or names you would like to register and click Continue
Choose the duration for the registration and Continue
Click the appropriate option to pay for the domain name registration. If you choose to use the credit card on file, make sure you also check the credit card you want to be billed against (it is possible to have more than one credit card linked to your account).
Once we have your order we will register the domain name and assign it to your website.
