Images can be .gif, .jpg or .png. The important thing to note when uploading images for websites is to ensure that the image is not too big.

If images are oversize, they will slow down your website. A 'tell tale' sign of an image being too big is when they load slowly and apper like someone is lowering a vertical blind. Note that resizing images after they have been loaded into the site by dragging the corners of images does not reduce their file size and often reduces their viewing quality.

Images should be resized before they are loaded into the editor.
